Saucy Steak and Creamy Celeriac Mash


Creamy Celeriac Mash

Ingredients

  • 1/2 a Celeriac, peeled and cut into chunks

  • Salt

  • 50g of Butter (Olive Oil as an alternative)

Directions

  1. Place in a suitable size saucepan, cover with water and season with salt

  2. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15-20 minutes. The chunks will be cooked when a knife easily slices through them

  3. Drain the water and return the celeriac to the pan with the butter, and mash until smooth. Season to taste


Saucy Steak

Serves: 2

Total Time: 25mins


Ingredients

  • 2 Jumbo Mushrooms, Sliced

  • 3 Medium - Small Green Peppers, Diced

  • 1 onion, Diced

  • Olive Oil

  • Salt

  • Kalo mushroom stock cube.

  • Paprika

  • 2 Hot Chillies, Diced

Directions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a pan, add the onions, then fry until softened.

  2. Add the steak and brown on both sides. (If you like your steak rare, cook for 2-3 min on each side, dependent on thickness, remove the steak from the pan, and place it on the chopping board to cool, ready to slice later from the hob. )

  3. (For medium-rare, a little more if you like your steaks well done, rest for 10 minutes) add the green peppers, chilli and mushrooms.

  4. Dust with the paprika and salt

  5. Dissolve the Kalo mushroom stock cube into 200 ml of boiling water and pour over the steak and other ingredients.

  6. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes.

  7. Take the steak out, rest on the chopping board and slice.

  8. Take the sauce off the heat.

  9. Plate the steak and the sauce.
